A native of Berks County, John Painter began studying piano at the age of 5 with Ferne Rubright in Mohrsville, PA and organ at the age of 15. He was an organ student of Sir Frederick Hammond and John Weaver, completing his undergraduate studies at Bard College, NY. After studying with Donald Dumler at the Cathedral of Saint Patrick in New York City, John obtained his Master of Music degree in organ and sacred music from the Manhattan School of Music under the tutelage of McNeil Robinson. John has served congregations in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York, and has performed recitals in the tri-state area and in France. John is the organist and choir master at Christ Church in Reading, PA.
