Make Your Own Collage, with Judith Krieger

Reading artist Judith Krieger leads a workshop for all ages using notebooks, magazines, paste, and acrylic paints to make your very own collage(s). A messy but fun time! Please wear “work” clothes!!

Organ Concert with Ken Cowan

Ken Cowan is one of North America’s finest concert organists. Praised for his dazzling artistry, impeccable technique, and imaginative programming by audiences and critics alike, he maintains a rigorous performing schedule which takes him to major concert venues across America, Canada, and Europe.

Recent feature performances have included appearances at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, Philadelphia’s Verizon Hall, Spivey Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall, and he Cathedral of Notre-Dame in Paris, France. In addition, Mr. Cowan has been a featured artist in recent years at the national conventions of the American Guild of Organists held in Los Angeles and Minneapolis, has performed at many regional conventions of the AGO, and has been featured at several conventions of the Organ Historical Society and the Royal Canadian College of Organists.

Numerous critically acclaimed compact disc recordings by Mr. Cowan are available. His most recent releases are “Ken Cowan Plays Romantic Masterworks” (on the Raven label), which was recorded on the 110-rank Schoenstein organ at First Plymouth Congregational Church in Lincoln, Nebraska, and “The Art of the Symphonic Organist” (volume 4 – on the JAV label), which was recorded on the Michael Quimby organ at First Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi. In addition to his solo recordings, Mr. Cowan also joined organist Justin Bischof in the world premiere recording of American composer Aaron Miller’s Double Concerto for organ, recorded with the Zurich Symphony Orchestra on the Kleuker organ in the Tonhalle, Zurich, Switzerland (Ethereal Recordings). Many of Mr. Cowan’s recordings and live performances are regularly featured on the nationally distributed radio show “Pipedreams” from American Public Media.

Previous positions have included Associate Organist and Artist in Residence in Saint Bartholomew’s Church in New York City; Assistant Organist posts at St. James Episcopal Church and the Church of Saint Mary the Virgin in New York City; and Saint Clement’s Church in Philadelphia. He has also been on the roster of Associate Organists for the famous Wanamaker Grand Court organ in Philadelphia.

A reception in the auditorium follows the concert.

Monologue Workshop

Join us for an exciting acting workshop with Ginnine Cocuzza, a Reading native
and graduate of Temple University who has worked with many of our local
theatres, Fall Festival events, and theatres in New York and Philadelphia.

This workshop - focusing on the importance of detail in monologue and scene
work - will provide a professional perspective on their acting technique to
dedicated high school junior & senior and college theatre students. Please prepare
a monologue from a published play of no more than three minutes, or a two-person scene of no longer than five minutes. Bring five copies of your text with you to the workshop.

An Evening of Song with Soprano Catherine Walker

Guest artist Catherine Walker began studying voice with Lancaster teacher and opera
singer Jean Bradel, and went on to receive her BFA in Vocal Performance from Carnegie Mellon University. Catherine made her Broadway debut with the original cast of the hit musical Mary Poppins, and became Broadway's second "Mary," flying over the heads
(and into the hearts) of Broadway audiences for over 100 performances. She then joined
the original cast of the acclaimed Broadway revival of Ragtime. In addition, she returned
to Lancaster County last holiday season as “Maria” in The Sound of Music at The Fulton Theatre, and most recently, Miss Walker was seen once again on Broadway in Mary Poppins. She has also appeared with major symphony orchestras in tributes to Stephen Sondheim and Stephen Schwartz.

Berks Classical Children's Chorus Holiday Concert
